A Visit From The Vinoun Films Crews

As the name indicates, Vinoun Films, it must be expressly rather than simply impliedly involved in the making of film pictures for defined purposes. It was therefore arranged much earlier by Janice, one of the crew members, that the filming team would visit Tintap Daton Ngawi' Fishfarm to film a few Kadazandusun processes of food preparations. There was also the filming of a reminiscing of the early schooling years of an auntie who is now in her ealry 70s in 2012. Memories of Secondary School schooling more than half a century ago must be a nostalgic call to memory!
Joe obliged his niece, Janice, with demonstrations of the processes of preparing a Fish Nonsom and a Meat Nonsom; Mathew, with the processes of preparing a Pinaasakan Sada and Hinava Sada; Alice, with Hinava Bavang Tagaas
and Tinumis Losun, and, Datin Seri Panglima Celestina Jinu with her early schooldays reminiscence.
The whole crew were on their toes, so to speak, from mid morning to mid afternoon, with lunch in between. With the exception of nonsom fish the other food which preparations were demonstrated any other types were served. The crew had also pre-ordered food from Ching Fah, Donggongon. Such was a wise decision since a few of them could only take halal food.
The Kadazandusun concept of food is that it is respected and not to be wasted. It is taboo to throw a lump of rice to the ground and to pour out a half plate of rice into the dustbin is literally throwing food away. On seeing the excesses of food that day I shiver with fear that much food would be wasted. I remember elders in my younger days teaching me rather than instilling fear in me that the Spirit of the Rice can pass a curse of 'Bologoson'. Aha! That's the topic of a future Posts.
